The Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, officially opened in October 2024, is a major new healthcare facility serving the West Midlands. Designed to consolidate acute services from Sandwell and City hospitals, it offers around 736 beds—half of which are ensuite single rooms.

As one of the largest healthcare facilities in the UK in recent years, we were privileged to work on the project from the very early stages of concept and wayfinding design - advising the contractors, architect and the healthcare trust on best practice and compliance.

Once design approval was reached, the signage was fully manufactured at our production facility, and installed by our dedicated on-site team.

Using the striking orange feature colour prevalent in the design of the hospital, we developed the full interior wayfinding concepts and strategy.

Each sign features interchangeable slats, allowing for easy updating as area roles change within the hospital over time.

Externally, we designed the full wayfinding and high level signage package. Considering for both vehicle users and pedestrians, the wayfinding continues the strong contrast and dark grey with orange highlights as the internal signage.
