AC Marriott, Glasgow
Situated just off Glasgow’s iconic George Square, this 245 bed hotel boasts an enviable city centre location. Combining existing heritage architecture with modern-day contemporary design, this luxury hotel stands as a wonderful example of sensitive urban regeneration.
From early in the design process, we were involved in locating the brand suitably on the building at high level and developing the architect’s proposals for the interior wayfinding. The client then tasked us with developing the bespoke canopies at each entrance to the hotel, including the illuminated feature under-canopy panels.
At high level, we installed sets of illuminated, vertically oriented ‘AC HOTEL’ brand lettering. Lower down, face-lit built up lettering was installed on top of our canopies - one set for the main Hotel entrance, and another separate set for the Hazel-branded hotel restaurant.
Internally, the building presented a unique wayfinding challenge due to the separate nature of the old heritage building and the newly built tower block. Interior room signage was kept simple in line with the AC Hotel guidelines. The corridor wayfinding is comprised of a bespoke laminated panel arrangement with raised tactile text.
“Keep doing what you are doing. Worked with Ascot on two projects now - very helpful and good to work with.”
